Commissary Concierge Program

During the early stages of the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 I worked for the Combined Arms Support Command in Fort Lee, Virginia. I reported on the COVID-19 situation on Fort Lee and how training continued or was modified as a result of the pandemic. In this case I wrote and article and took photos of a new program on Fort Lee that was intended to help Soldiers and civilian personnel affiliated with the installation to get groceries from the Fort Lee supermarket.

The program was spearheaded by the Fort Lee Religious Affairs Office. It gathered volunteers from across the community who shopped for groceries for people who were in quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19. The groceries would then be delivered to the people who ordered them.

The article was publish on the Fort Lee Traveler, a military newspaper affiliated with Fort Lee and the surrounding community. It had a print as well as online presence and this article was published on both mediums. Unfortunately, the Fort Lee Traveler was experiencing a monetary loss and so on January 2021 it ceased its printed edition and moved solely to an online publication.
