Russia and the Post America Middle East

This was the first of my photos that was used for a news organization. It was taken in October 2019 during a protest in front of the White House in Washington DC. The protest was organized by Kurdish American groups in the United States who were criticizing then President Trumps decision to not support Kurdish groups in northern Syria and Iraq. This was seen by the Kurds as a the American government abandoning the Kurds, who at one point had been our allies in our fight against the Islamic State in the Middle East.

The photo chosen by Foreign Affairs Japan is of a man carrying a placard with the phrase “Shame on you Trump! #SaveTheKids” alluding to the abuse children in Kurdistan would suffer in a new conflict in northern Iraq and Syria.

Since its founding in 1922, Foreign Affairs has been the leading forum for serious discussion of American foreign policy and global affairs. It is now a multiplatform media organization with a print magazine, a website, a mobile site, various apps and social media feeds, an event business, and more.
