Christmas on the Road…Gongmyeong (Cry Together)
These photos were taken in Pyeongtaek, Korea while I worked as the Public Affairs Officer for the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade. Each Christmas season, the military community of Camp Humphreys donates winter supplies to the local community in the nearby town of Pyeongtaek. Supplies include preserved food, blankets, charcoal, and this year masks and hand sanitizer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My photos were picked up by Korean media outlet Naver News and used to illustrate the efforts of Soldiers to help the local community during the winter.
My favorite picture is of a Soldier hugging a local man who had faulty heating system in his home. Because of this he had little to no heat in his home. The local church gifted him an electric blanket that he could use while his heating system was fixed. The man thanked the Soldier by hugging him.
